Summer Bishil Bio

Summer Bishil was a Pasadena, California native. Her family and she relocated to the United States when she was only three years old. Summer was a student at British and American schools during the time her family moved abroad. returning to her home town of Pasadena just shy of her birthday of 14. Summer was only five years old when she was captivated by acting and began her first acting class. Nine months later, Summer got an agent as well as a manager and began to pursue her dreams full-time. In her spare time she goes to college and is working towards her degree. Was among the young celebrities featured in Vanity Fair's cover story, "Hollywood's New Wave: The Hottest Kids in Hollywood" in August 2008.Was named one of "Ten Actors to Watch" by Variety (2007).Nominee for Best Actress - Spirit Award. Bishil began her acting classes at age 14 years old. Within a year, Bishil was signed to an employment contract by a management or agency. Bishil started her career on the Nickelodeon television show Just for Kicks. After that she was signed a contract with a manager and an agency. Her first big break was in the film of Alan Ball, Towelhead. It's an adaptation of the novel with the same name. Dana Stevens, a critic for Slate, said that Bishil's performance was "the most honest thing" in a film that even with the best intentions it was utterly fake and a little embarrassing. It was similar to an extended PSA on inappropriate touching. Bob Strauss, who writes for several Los Angeles newspapers, states that Bishil, "...is one of the finest natural actresses in film to appear in recent times." In a September 12 Los Angeles Times review, Gary Goldstein stated that Summer Bishil, a "...newcomer has an enthralling and confident performance in the role of Jasira. In 2009, she was a part of Wayne Kramer’s Crossing Over movie starring Harrison Ford, Ray Liotta, and Ashley Judd. Jay Reiner, Associated Press, appreciated her performance. She was chosen to play Azula in M. Night Shyamalan’s film The Last Airbender (2010). The sequel was never produced.
